A journey…

In a career spanning 45 years Martin Wragge has, as CEO of listed and unlisted entities, developed and/or re-developed more than 3,000,000 square metres of commercial, industrial, residential, leisure and retail space in South Africa and a further 2,000,000sq m in China. The above include more than 30 mid- to high-rise office blocks, 14,000 socio-economic houses, some 3,000 houses, more than 400 villas, 8,000 high-rise apartments, numerous factories, more than 30 shopping centres — of which the largest are CENTURY CITY, in Cape Town (then 135,000sq m of GLA), KISSWATER, in Yinchuan, China (141,000sq m of GLA) and TYGER VALLEY, in Cape Town (87,000sq m of GLA) — FOREST PARK, a 56-hectare Theme Park in Ningxia Province, China and RATANGA JUNCTION, Africa’s first fully fledged Theme Park in Cape Town. In 2007 he was one of 50 foreigners awarded a gold medal by Prime Minister Wen Jiaboa for contributions to the development of China. He has been Chairman and CEO of wholly owned GRITPROP INVESTMENTS (Pty) Ltd since 1987 and is a director of TRADEHOLD LIMITED, listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange.
